You’ve most likely heard or read the words of musician Marc Anthony before. Do what you love and you’ll never work another day in your life. It makes good sense that when you do what you love it is easy, fun and never feels like work.

do what you love every dayHowever, even when doing what you love, you will have days that feel hard or tough. When you want to stop and get off the hamster wheel because being an entrepreneur feels too hard. When everything might seem to be going wrong.

I’m presently reading The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein and she refers to these times as detours. It’s you still on your path, simply you taking a detour. This from Chapter Six which is titled Obstacles Are Detours In The Right Direction.

As I reflect back over the past six years, since taking the step to leave paid employment, there have been many obstacles. Each and every one of them has brought me to where I am today. The same can be said of the personal journey I’ve been on and it has been one hell of a roller coaster ride.

I love the idea and concept of taking a detour and yet knowing I’m still on the right path. An idea that enables me to have faith that the Universe really does have my back, that I can achieve all that I desire.

The latest chapter has taught me that I must be patient, something that doesn’t come easily to me. That I must get out of my own way, that I can and must stop worrying about how and when. Particularly the when.

You and I have become impatient, we love and crave ‘instant’ gratification but are missing out if we don’t stop to feel the sun on our faces.

The wonderful Sarah-Jane Le Blanc recently shared with me the idea that meditation can take place anytime and anywhere. She encouraged me to tune into my senses when doing the mundane. I did this recently while pegging out the washing, suddenly I could hear the buzzing of the insects, the drone of a distant plane and the different bird songs.

I’m opening myself up to a new way of seeing and hearing the world. I’ve stopped rushing, working at full speed and yet I’m working more efficiently and effectively. I’ve always loved what I do, feel privileged and honoured when clients invite me into their world to coach and mentor them. Now with all that I’m learning from my business coach, the books I’m drawn to read and my clients I also gain joy from all that I do in the business. I no longer have to ... I get to!

How fortunate am I, that I will never work another day in my life because I love what I do and all that is required from me to attract amazing clients. Suddenly there is nothing I ‘have to do’ .. instead I 'get to do' and that's a shift worth experiencing.

I get to create content that delights and support my amazing tribe in the Make it Happen Facebook Group be awesome. I get to speak, present and watch lightbulb moments in a room when what I’m saying resonates. I get to be me every day ... the true authentic me and I no longer have to compete with others or give thought to the competition. WoW, what a journey I’ve been on and the really juicy stuff is still to come - how exciting is that!
