Insanity: Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results. So why do we insist on doing it? Because change is most likely outside of your comfort zone. Yet, change is empowering, and change is good.

Change is empowering, change is good\From an early age, we begin fearing change and if like me you’re a creature of habit change is extremely scary. I don’t even like parking my car in a different spot – mainly so I don’t forget where I put it but also because it's comfortable.

How many times have you heard ‘we’ve always done it like that’?

As the CEO of your business, you don’t have to continue doing it the same way. You don’t need to consult a team, speak with your boss or call a board meeting. You decide what needs changing and I will let you into a secret ... making the decision is empowering. All you need do is embrace the change and trust in the process.

This May (2019) my business will be six years old, the business has changed and is very different now compared to when I first opened its doors (figuratively speaking). Although I had noticed that many of the actions and ways in which I work did not. So I began looking at what I was doing, the processes I was using and asking myself why. I then took the steps needed to implement the changes and it felt awesome, it created momentum in the business and I was re-energised.

Your business, your rules

A phrase I use often. Because I don’t believe that there is a perfect blueprint, one rule or size fits all. I highly recommend and urge you to learn from others, seek out a business coach or mentor and commit to daily learning and personal growth. With the caveat that you incorporate into your business knowing your business is unique because you’re unique. What works for me might not work for you but unless you try you will never know. Unless you commit to learning and embrace change you will remain just where you are.

When embracing change, it’s important to remember that habits don’t change overnight. You will be drawn back to doing it the old way because that’s where you’re comfortable, confident and feel in control. Change is scary because it can feel like a leap into the unknown.

Take my relationship with mindset, the law of attraction and trusting in the process. Six years ago, I would have told you ‘that’s not for me’, mainly because I didn’t understand it and I needed to take small steps into this world I didn’t know. It was not a big leap or change, its taken baby steps to bring me where I am today.

Change doesn’t have to be big and taken in one leap

It’s like learning something new. You don’t necessarily get it first time around, after the first training session or YouTube video you stumble across. It takes practice, you need to lean into it and accept the process.

When attempting change without being fully committed you will fail. I know this from experience - you must be all in. Where are you not all in, what changes do you need to make but fear?
