Are you expecting too much of yourself and your business? Are you not allowing yourself to enjoy the journey? I know at times I’m absolutely guilty of this, getting frustrated by not getting it right the first time or realising that ‘more’ work is needed.


Your business journey should be one you enjoy


Struggling to find your way?There will be days when like me you will be frustrated, anxious it’s not happening fast enough and overwhelmed by what needs doing. Yet you create that pressure and only you can do something about it.

I’m writing this blog after having a coaching session with myself – basically giving myself a good talking to. Yes, I know talking to yourself is the first sign of madness but I really do walk the talk and needed to remind myself of the tools and strategies I share with my clients.

To be honest, I’m feeling a little naughty – like I’ve fallen off the wagon. The great news is I do have the tools at my disposal to get back on track, was able to do just that and it inspired this blog.

If you're not able to enjoy the journey, what's the point and yes it may lead to burnout. In 2019 I urge you to take control, be in the moment and enjoy the journey. ​​


Next time overwhelm hits follow the seven steps below


1. First and foremost STOP giving yourself a hard time. The more you beat yourself, the worse you will feel and the harder it will be to motivate yourself to take action.

2. Give yourself space to ‘consider’ what’s worrying you most and where this feeling is coming from. Only then can you decide on the steps needed.

3. Prioritise tasks and actions with your diary open – this is essential to prevent you from expecting too much of yourself on any given day.

4. Remember you have all week, deadlines allowing. No more than three priorities per day and these get your attention before all other tasks.

5. Recognise and avoid the distractions, often these are the quick tasks that give you a ‘false’ sense of achievement as you tick them off and of course social media!!

6. If you need help in or outside of the business put the wheels in motion immediately, don’t wait for the next crisis or ‘business panic attack’.

7. Replenish the body with food and water and start with the first priority on the list. Don’t give yourself any excuses, just start.


Bonus Tip - Stop Consuming Content

You can become overwhelmed by all that you believe needs doing because of the content you're consuming. I know it’s making me laugh as you’ve just read this blog – well I hope you’ve got this far and if you have ... thank you.

I do exactly the same and it leaves me thinking ‘I need to automate more, I need to create more, I need to sell more – I need Facebook adverts’. Or ‘my lead magnets not right, my sales page needs tweaking and my website needs update’.

It’s why I work with my clients to help them discover what they do need, what they should be doing and support them in taking the necessary action. There is no one size fits all or one solution – I believe it’s about finding what works for you.
