I’ve been 'in my own way' and on occasion still can be. It’s those moments when you feel truly scared of what is possible and when excuses are plentiful. Equally when you feel stuck and not sure what to do next.

Get out of your own way and be awesome


When in your head all you can hear is ‘I must do this and I have to do that’. When you’re screaming, ‘I don’t have time, I don’t have the knowledge, I’m not good enough.’

The good news is there are ways you can move past these moments of anxiety, worry and fear and today I’m sharing ten.

So you can discover the one or ones that work best for you and move past the moments of angst more easily, and get back to being your awesome self.

And here they are...

1. Be brave and start.

This is in many ways the simplest but can be the hardest. You need to feel past the fear and do it anyway. I highly recommend you make it even easier by focusing on the one thing you can do and there is always one small step that you can take, no matter how small.

2. Concentrate on ONE thing at a time.

I don't know about you but if I have too many projects on the table it results in spreading my time thinly, which means nothing really gets done. Be kind to yourself and focus on one project or activity at a time, the one that you're most excited about.

3. Forget about failing.

There is no such thing as failure, only wonderful learning opportunities. Forget failing and do it anyway knowing that you will learn and grow from the experience. That no matter the results you are moving the business forward.

4. Stop comparing yourself to others.

This is a big one and while being aware of the competition is a good thing, comparing yourself to others can be most unhelpful; particularly on social media. Focus on you and your business, be and do what is right for you.

5. Remember why.

Your why is what keeps you moving forward, both the why in your business and for you out of the business. Stay connected always as this is your driving factor or factors and staying or reconnecting gives you confidence and your energy a boost.

6. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

Perfect is an illusion because what’s perfect for you, may not be to the next person, so don’t wait. Plus, you’re on an amazing journey; part of that journey is learning and growing, which you can’t do if you don’t release your offering to the world.

7. Celebrate the small steps.

Gratitude is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and the business. Celebrate daily all that is working out, all that you receive, the abundance that surrounds you and every small step. Make it a daily habit and start expecting miracles.

8. Observe non-serving patterns and habits.

It can be easy to overlook the obvious, the patterns and habits you’ve created and are holding you stuck. Pay attention to the times you panic, when you procrastinate and use the techniques shared today to rev up your energy and give your confidence a boost.

9. Commit and be all in.

If you’re not all in and committed to a project there is most likely a reason. Reflect and be honest with yourself and ask yourself, ‘is this the right project’. Look to see where you need help and get it. My rule is, if it’s not fun I’m not doing it.

10. Be fearless and start.

See past the fear and start. Take the first action and create the momentum you need to see it through. Again, focus on what you can do and get excited about what lies ahead and the future you are creating.
